One of our clients, a developer, requested to transfer their domain.
We provided them with step-by-step instructions on how to initiate the domain transfer. The client followed the instructions, and we then advised them to contact their current registrar to request approval for the domain transfer.
When the client attempted to contact the registrar, the company did not respond professionally. Frustrated, the client reached out to us, and we escalated the matter through our assigned relationship manager. Together, our relationship manager and the client approached the registrar.
The registrar’s employee told them to call back the next morning for approval. The following day, when our client and relationship manager followed up, the registrar’s employee was unprofessional and claimed that they did not handle domain transfers, asking the client to send an email instead.
The client then questioned why this crucial information wasn’t communicated earlier, especially with only two days remaining until their domain’s expiration. At this point, our relationship manager investigated who is the domain reseller for that company was and contacted them directly, explaining the entire situation.
The Reseller registrar clarified that they would need a direct email from the individual listed on the domain registration. Our relationship manager conveyed this to the client, who followed the instructions and emailed the registrar with the full context.
After the email was sent, we re-initiated the domain transfer process, and the company finally approved it. The domain has now been successfully transferred to our control.
The takeaway from this experience is that the client’s original company seemed intent on renewing the domain within their own platform, which we believe goes against the principle of freedom of choice. We are very grateful to the second B2B company for cooperating with us and facilitating the transfer.
Due to privacy concerns, we are not disclosing the names of the companies involved.
Thank you for reading this blog. We will continue to share our experiences with you in the future.
